Milestone

Today marks a milestone of my life at work,
it was as if time was playing nasty tricks on me.
I've been hard at work since April and
the year has almost reached closure.

There is a mighty difference between reaching for
the impossible and realizing what you are capable of.
What is revealed at the end crosses between the two.
I've had my share of optimistic up days when the work
flow is good and i perform well and the dreaded days
that leave me burning in angst and regret,
as i look at myself mess up.

It was never easy, no one said it would be.

However, I am still here.
Always present, always resilient.

And I am definitely feeling accomplished.

I feel something in me that my gut can't point out,
neither can visuals or word trace the outlines of my thoughts.
But as i take my well deserved holiday break this year.
I've quite so learnt that I've matured.

The Christmas Card Affair 2009

Christmas is drawing near and finishing up the video e-card for work
has conjured my creative juices on what to do for my personal christmas cards this year.

Here are my previous 07/08 christmas cards ; a simple, easy, no fuss job.

Thus this year..

Brief :
01. Something more than just smacking graphic/illustration on a piece of 150-180 gsm paper.
02. And it has to show where i am - my pit stop.
03. A gift to my pals reminding them of me as it's my last christmas in Singapore till 2012.
04. 2010 - a new decade? Seemingly so.. (pretty controversial)

And this year's inspiration? Typo and Interactivity!!

Smell the Harajuku!

Despite having clear knowledge of my 10 bottles
of perfume in my cupboard, I wanted more.

So, I decided to try out Gwen Stefani's perfume line.
I've always looked at it in stores but never exactly
got down to sampling it thus buying it.

My pick? The Lil' Angel.

Lil Angel consist of Fruity Floral Notes:
Juicy Rasberry, Lush Pear Blossom and Warm Hinoki Woods

Although, I was a little dissappointed with my 30ml
worth of perfume in an able-to-fit 70m-100ml box.

It was an "A-OK" for a price of 30 SGD dollars, and a rather cute collector's item.
Not to forget the spot varnishing on its packaging.

It could only be..

1. Classic Q Natasha

Made of pebbled leather.

Pros : Goes well with my age
Cons : Obviously? Only serves as a messenger bag and not a shoulder bag.

Yes, I do happen to be a crier. Yesterday served as a rude awakening for myself, as i throughly assessed my capabilities and motivations.I feel as if i am weaken by the gradual monotony of everyday life. I'm losing it.As my three days off work is coming to an end, i firmly badge ;

1. To stop complaining too much, and deal with it.

workaholic syndrome

Nevertheless i could see it coming,
there's just something about me and work.

Recently, my life has been a hell of a ride,
yes - all work and no play makes jack a dull boy -
but.. i do play. And so, why am i so tired all the time?

From work, to work to work again, perhaps.
The monotony of everyday repeating itself.
I wish the corporate world was far more exciting!
I get back home, and it doesn't end there -
there's freelance projects to do and the list never ends.

Well, i would really say i am the one to be blamed,
as i can easily be difficult with everyone around and reject datelines,
BUT it's in my nature, always pleasing - which gets in the way.

I've learnt so much especially this past 2 weeks,
scrambling for air to breathe, yearning for a break.
Seeing black all around me as i yawn and think of collapsing
going without sleep. I am overworked.

And, i totally feel the only source of happiness,
comes from MOTIVATION now days.
When someone comes up and taps you saying
"You're doing good work." or when a client texts
"Hey ladies, just wanna let you guys are doing a great job."
It is really really heartwarming. Especially when you spend
hours in front of the mac, pouring your brains out and
illustrator-ing/ photoshop-ing/ indesign-ing like a mad cow.
All designers really need to feel is appreciated and not treated like a sweatshop warrior.
So...in view of my situation, knowing it myself,
what did i do? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

Except - totally go wonky and drunky today
feeling so happy that i knocked off at 6:30 AT LAST,
produced fairly good work, cancelled meeting my client,
and postponed doing work with T-REE.
Leaving the whole evening for me and dave (:

GAHS.

I need a breather soon.
Someone shake me.

i've been stuck in this dilemma for ages,
looking down at my samsung phone.

my next phone has to be an iphone,
so i dont get bored.

cooking under instructions

i woke up today late as ever,
making him wait for me again.
my weekends really get wasted on sleep,
i can hardly understand why i sleep so horribly much,
that when it comes to sunday, me and dave find it so
hard to justify for the wastage of precious time,
and promise that we'll do better the next week and the
cycle just nicely - eat, sleep and repeats.-

friday & saturday was movie night & party night as we attended a friend's 21st tgt.
today was pretty fun;
dragonboy and me bombarded the kitchen,
whipping up fancy dishes for dinner

01. mixed organic salad
02. miso soup
03. al dente corn, tomatoes, avocado with lime dressing
04. salmon fillet with asparagus and ham on the side
05. criss-cut fries
06. bbqed chicken
07. toasted butter bread with tomato, rosemary marinate
08. yoghurt with a fine selection of fresh fruits for dessert
09. not to forget the light alcohol, choya (:

and the cooking didn't stop there,
after dinner we baked muffins!!! (:

after a hectic cook-a-holic day
there's only one thing i can't quite fathom.
that is, that i've spent so much time with dave,
and now at an ungodly hour of 1.21am,
knowingly knowing that i've got work early early early,
i'm missing him so badly.
i'm not sure why i cant get enough of him ;(

bag bag bag!

i've been long in search for a decent mid range black leather bag,
and could have found it? perhaps, but this one's
negative point = not big enough for my a4 stuff. :/
other than that, it's more or less quite perfect,
cos' i'm very fussy about bag quality.
comes quite reasonably too ~ $100 SGD, ashton, korean brand.
